SKP Saguaro — Channel 43

Channel 43 is our in-park cable TV station. Some of the ways that this station will be used are:

    • To show the photographic and movie making skills of our park residents,
    • To provide special information and announcements in greater detail than Channel 5 can accomodate,
    • To provide additional programming with unusual and interesting content, and
    • To provide taped shows of various meetings and performances.

Channel 43 FAQ (as of 3/25/2011)

I can’t see Channel 43. What should I do?

    • If all you get is a black screen it may be possible that Channel 43 is down for maintenance. Try again later to see if Channel 43 is again broadcasting.
    • Follow the instructions for your television to rescan your channel selections or to add a channel.

Who is in charge of Channel 43?

    • The Channel 43 Committee is in charge of Channel 43. This committee reports to the Saguaro Co-Op Board of Directors.

Does Channel 43 reach outside of the Saguaro Co-op?

    • Channel 43 is only available on the Saguaro Co-Op cable system and can not be received at any other location.

What can be shown on Channel 43?

    • Only submit material that you created and/or own; material produced by others to which you have the written permission of the copyright owner; or is in the public domain (e.g., found on YouTube or a video podcast found on iTunes).
    • You can submit material such as a video of your travels, interesting things you have seen, items of interest to the RV community, items of interest to retired people or any material that is of general interest to the Saguaro Co-Op community.
    • Promotions of upcoming events that are outside the scope and capabilities of Channel 5.
    • Please be aware that material considered by the Channel 43 Producers as being inappropriate, controversial or obscene will not be aired.

How do I submit something to be considered for showing on Channel 43?

    • Provide your content in WMV (Windows Media Audio/Video) format. Material presented in other formats (.mov, .rr, avi, mp4, swf, etc.) will not be considered.
    • Material may be submitted on a DVD, Flash drive or via the internet.
    • Still images (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc.) will NOT be accepted.
    • Forms and instructions for submitting content are in an envelope on the clubhouse bulletin board, in the Saguaro Co-Op Office and here (just click). Submitted material must include the following.
      • Name, phone number, email address and lot number of person making the submission.
      • Approximate date material submitted was recorded.
      • General description of contents.
      • Source of the material (i.e., self-recorded, YouTube, etc.).
      • Describe how ownership is identified within the submission.
      • Approximate running time.
      • Indicate if you want the material returned or not.

Will my material be returned to me?

    • You may pick up your material from the person you left it with within ten days of leaving it with them. Material not picked up with in the ten days will be destroyed.

Will my material be edited?

    • The Channel 43 Committee Producers reserve the right to edit any material submitted to them so that appropriate material is aired and it fits in the time frame needed on the channel.

How do I know what is showing today on Channel 43?

    • Whenever feasible, a programming guide will appear on this page (go to Guide).
    • Otherwise, check on Channel 5 of the Saguaro Co-Op cable system for programming information.

Will Channel 43 content continue to be shown during the summer?

    • Channel 43 programming is maintained by volunteers and whether content will be shown during the summer is dependent on these volunteers.

Who decides what Co-op activities are recorded to show on Channel 43?

    • The Lead person of a Co-Op activity must contact Channel 43 Committee via email (click here to send an email) or a written request turned in to the Saguaro Co-Op office identified as going to Channel 43 that they wish to have their event recorded.
    • The Channel 43 Committee will decide if the event is an appropriate event to be recorded to show on Channel 43.

Who does event recording?

    • There are volunteers whose names will be provided to the Event Lead person that may be available to record their event. The Event Lead person must make arrangements with one of the videographers to record the event. The videographer may provide some editing to the video after recording.
    • Anyone can videotape an event and submit their material as outlined above.
